Jimbo Wilmshurst
About me
My name is James Wilmshurst although I’m mostly known as Jimbo nowadays. I started producing videos, websites, music etc from quite a young age and eventually in 2004 I set up this website www.jimbostudios.com with the help of friend and web genius Mark Goddard who knows much much more than me about this whole website malarkey. Anyway the main purpose of the website was to be able to archive my work and share it with friends and anyone else who stumbles across it. In 2004 I had began to produce mostly comedy videos and unofficial music videos often as part of my media studies college course. Later in 2005 I began to create music parodies, changing the lyrics of popular songs to make humorous songs about my friends and certain events of our lives until eventually I decided to start making my own more serious music still keeping that hint of comedy in there with songs such as ‘Debras up the Duff” and ‘Live from the shower’ which can be listened to along with many more over at the music section of the site. I continued to update the site regularly with new comedy videos and spoof documentaries as I really got hooked with the video blogging craze. I also encouraged others to get involved with the site and that is when the Fish Tank phenomenon began! Chris Fisher, a friend and now a student at Loughborough University began to do a weekly video blog speaking about the events of the week including features such as headlines and quotes of the week. His strange dry and sort of posh and clever sort of personality was an instant hit and the the Fish Tank became somewhat of a love/hate kind of show which many people were very keen on logging on to watch each week. Although some people may have found it hard to sit through a full show it was very difficult not to laugh at the Fish Tank and the highlights packages put together all of the best moments from this show that ran for 78 episodes in total until the last we saw of Chris Fisher was when he was sent back in time and apparently eaten by a dinosaur.
2008 was a quiet year for Jimbo Studios. This being as I was in the final year of a degree course and simply found it difficult to find the time to create new material and update the site. However now in 2009 I have finished University and although finding time may still be an issue Jimbo Studios is now a priority of mine and I intend to update it more regularly and keep on doing my thing that many people seem to like which is enough for me to want to keep doing it. So this is the new look website that I have put together and hope to use as a home and an archive of all my work. As a career I am hoping to get into radio and Iam due to begin voluntary work with Penistone FM, a new community radio station who are due to launch this June. Hopefully I can show case my recorded shows on Jimbo Studios and build up a community of regular listeners.
I don’t know why I can’t be happy with just getting a normal job, earning my money and living a simple life. I just have a craving for entertaining. To me there is nothing better than making people laugh or smile and it gives me so much satisfaction if any work of mine has any kind of effect on anyone.
I want to live and be remembered not just exist and that is why I make these videos, songs and other bizarre random things!
